trans-Cinnamic acid, a natural product isolated and purified from the barks of Cinnamomum cassia, with phytotoxic, anti-diabetic, anti-cancer, antioxidant and anaesthetic activities, is cell differentiation inducer, protein isoprenylation inhibitor, shows a significant radio-protective effect by reducing the DNA damage induced by X-rays, inhibits feeding by detritivores, and the diphenolase activity of mushroom tyrosinase and the inhibition is reversible, the IC 50 values are estimated to be 2.10, 0.50 and 0.42 mM, respectively.

描述Trans-Cinnamic Acid (tCA), a compound existing in cinnamon, has many biological activities, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anticancer activity^[1-2]. In vitro studies, tCA could help the secretion of adiponectin and the activation of AMPK in 3T3-L1 cells^[1] . In addition, tCA could also inhibit the proliferation of HT29 colon carcinoma cells, with the IC50 value of about 1 mM^[2] . In vivo studies, it was found that tCA have the ability of suppressing the growth of HT29 human colon carcinoma xenografts in athymic mice, when given 1.0 and 1.5 mmol/kg^[2] . Besides this, tCA, used in conjunction with antituberculous drugs, could increase antibiotics activity of the medicine against Mycobacterium avium^[3] .
