描述Dansylglycine belongs to a class of dansylated amino acids, which are largely used as fluorescent probes for the characterization of the binding sites in albumin. The complexation of HSA (human serum albumin) with dansylglycine resulted in the appearance of an ICD (Induced circular dichroism) band centred at 346 nm^[3]. From competition studies using dansylglycine, dansylsarcosine, 11-(dansylamino)-undecanoic acid and 1-anilino-8-naphthalenesulfonic acid it was proposed that monooleoylglycerol binds at the dansylsarcosine site (site II) of HSA. Monooleoylglycerol was a competitive inhibitor of dansylsarcosine binding with a Kd of about 2.5 mM whereas oleic acid was not competitive with dansylsarcosine binding^[4]. The reactivity of Tau-NHBr was strongly affected by the pH of the medium (for instance with dansylglycine: pH 5.0, 1.1 × 10⁴ M(-1)s(-1), pH 7.0, 9.5 × 10 M(-1)s(-1) and pH 9.0, 1.7 × 10 M(-1)s(-1)), a property that is related to the formation of the dibromamine form at acidic pH (Tau-NBr₂)^[5].
