描述Nicorandil acts as both an adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-sensitive K+ (K(ATP)) channel opener and a nitrate. Nicorandil significantly decreased pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (i.e., reduced cardiac preload) at a plasma level of >200 ng/ml, but did not change either systemic or pulmonary vascular resistance^[3]. The protection afforded by nicorandil has been shown to be mainly attributed to KATP channel opening in experimental models of myocardial and pulmonary fibrosis as well as renal injury or glomerulonephritis, whereas NO (nitric oxide) donation predominates as a mechanism of protection in hepatic fibrosis and inflammatory bowel diseases^[4]. Treatment of nicorandil significantly reduced the incidence of CIN (contrast-induced nephropathy) as compared with controls^[5]. Nicorandil is not a first-line agent in the management of angina but it is used in combination with other antianginal medications in stable and unstable angina. It is generally well tolerated with minor side effects such as headache, nausea, flushing and dizziness^[6].
