Saikosaponin B2, a natural product isolated and purified from the herb of Bupleurum chinense DC., acts on HCV E2, inhibits infection by several genotypic strains and prevents binding of serum-derived HCV onto hepatoma cells, and induces differentiation of B16 melanoma cells at a concentration of 5 mM, with potentiation of expressions of melanogenesis and tyrosinase.
